An Unexpected Twist on a Ribbon Install in Denver

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference & Exhibition is one of the largest gatherings in pediatric medicine. This year’s event brought thousands of professionals to Denver for five days of networking, education, and the nation’s biggest pediatric technical exhibit.

Ballyhoo partnered with Kushner & Associates, the transportation logistics and administrative lead for the conference, to give Los Angeles Children’s Hospital high-visibility exposure outside the convention center. The project called for six full-length sponsor ribbons across three Arrow Stage Lines buses.

Results & Outcome

Our installer arrived at Arrow Stage Lines’ Denver yard with a clear plan: six ribbons, one per side, staged and installed ahead of the conference.

On-site, he uncovered a serious wrinkle. Each coach had sign frames bolted along both sides right where the sponsor ribbons were designed to start. The frames were irregular, sometimes bent out of shape, and long enough to block placement of the graphics. Shifting the ribbons back wasn’t an option; the layout included prominent Los Angeles Children’s Hospital logos, and the sponsor had made it clear—no cropping, no trimming.

Rather than lose momentum, we got creative. The installer carefully inlaid the vinyl ribbons directly over the sign frames, working them flush so the graphics appeared seamless despite the underlying hardware. It required precision, especially on the bent frames, but the outcome was flawless. The ribbons looked smooth and continuous, so much so that it minimized the contours of the frame altogether.

By the end of the night, the buses were show-ready, with logos fully intact and perfect sponsor visibility. Both Kushner & Associates and the sponsor were more than pleased, calling out the quality and problem-solving under pressure.
